Life is truly immitating art. Would Senator Obama been able to win the democratic nomination without TV's "24"? It seems like a ridiculous question and yet, other blogs have been wondering about the same thing ("markmeynell", TV Blog "Remote Access").

In this article Dennis Haysbert says his role paved the way Barack Obama.

Actually you're looking at the wrong program!

"When the West Wing scriptwriters first devised their fictitious presidential candidate in the late summer of 2004, they modelled him in part on a young Illinois politician - not yet even a US senator - by the name of Barack Obama."

Hi Tim,

Thanks for that. I haven't followed the West Wing and the character on 24 was first, wasn't he? Now that Obama has been elected, I think my post is even more true. So many things have had to happen for a black man to become President of the United States. Both Programs have done their part to pave the way.

Strange, isn't it? I guess, almost every 24-addict asked exactly this question..
